My frangipani in flower - 2007/12/16 19:42 I was taking a photo of the fragipani out the front which I have been waiting to flower to see what colour it would be because it was here when I arrived.

I had to actually pull down the branch to get a good picture of the flower .. But then I noticed some movement near my hand which made me quickly let go haha ..

You will see what it was in the second picture

here is the flower

Re:My frangipani in flower - 2007/12/16 20:05 Lovely! I can nearly smell their perfume!
(wish my sense of smell was as powerful as my sense of hearing )

I'm so envious, too. All of my potted Plumerias/Frangipani
are leafless and huddling together in the dark of my basement,
hibernating until the spring works it's way back to this part of the planet.

Re:My frangipani in flower - 2007/12/16 20:09 Do you have to move them?
Oh here in good ol Western Australia, Our weather never gets that cold.
Do you know I have never seen snow in real life ..
I think I am glad though because I cant stand cold weather.

I live near the beach, My local shopping centre is on the beach front.

I take my camera shopping with me lol

I have some beautiful photos of parasurfers and some lovely beach shots just from going shopping.

We are in summer now, and I love it

Re:My frangipani in flower - 2007/12/16 20:34 It sounds just heavenly to me!
And Australia is very high on my list of places I'd love to visit.

I also live in a coastal community, I can see the Atlantic ocean from my driveway.
Our area, is quite low key, with family beach tourism about 9 months of the year.
But, alas, the winter months do get a bit too cold here for many of the plants that I grow to survive without protection, frangipani and Clivia included.

We don't get much snow here - which is fine with me.
I'm happy enough just to see it on television, or in a film.
Of course, now that I've said that this winter will turn out to be an exception and we'll be buried in the cold stuff.

I am originally from the state of Florida, so tropical blood flows in my veins, too
I am very much a cold-weather-wimp.

Re:My frangipani in flower - 2007/12/16 20:39 I used to live at the top end of Australia where it never rains, so I am not even used to winter, and winter in Perth isnt really that cold so they say, but to me it is cold.
Our usual cold winter day minimum would be about 20 ºC = 68 ºF..that it and I freeze

Re:My frangipani in flower - 2007/12/16 20:52 Oh, that sounds very much like the sort of temperatures that I knew from Florida,
a difference being, Florida has a very moisture-rich climate.

Re:My frangipani in flower - 2007/12/17 11:40 It is funny. My son is now in New Zealand and when I asked him if the weather there now is like in Israel he said yes. But in Israel itself now it is winter. Hardly any rain till now (and Israel needs rain a lot) and snow will usualy only fall up in the most northern mountain and very sometimes a few inched in Jerusalem but that will last never more than 1 week. Years go by without snow.

Here near the coast (not as close to it as you ladies - which I would just l-o-v-e to live with a view on the sea, actually it's my dream) we never, ever get snow and the summers are hot and moist

Re:My frangipani in flower - 2007/12/18 10:41 Definitely spring. You just don't want to be here in summer. WAY too humid.

Hot is diverse. In Eilat, town in the deep south of Israel, the temperatures are much higher, around 40 degrees in summer, but yet, the air so dry there that it is very nice even. Whereas here, near the coast, with only 30 degrees it gets sticky and yichs because of the humidity in the air.
