I'm afraid that the pixilation of your photo in the post above makes it all but impossible for me to ID the flower with any certainty. It resembles a Zinnia, but there are other possibilities. I looked at your other picture in the site photo album, and I concur with the ID that another member provided for you - the plant is in the Bromeliad family, but I can't be more specific.

I have since gone to the very large book on What Flower is This? which I bought from the Borders Bookstore, and saw the flowers close to the ones I took, one is a Zinnia, as you correctly said, and the other is a plant in the Bromeliad family.
What flowers are these? - 2009/11/09 20:08On your picture i put possible names of the bromeliads. hope you can discover what it is... maybe wait till it flowers and then take another pic and try to find out when it has flowered.
