Introduction - 2009/10/04 00:36 Hi, My name is Dale. I am originally from Colorado but I have been living in Toluca, Mexico for the past 6 years or so where I am teaching English.

For many years I have collected minerals, especially micro-minerals, but when I moved to Toluca I wasn't able to find minerals or people interested in them so I have migrated into nature in general. One of my passions has always been exploring the world with a microscope and now that I have a digital camera and a way to put it on my microscope I am able to document much of what I see. I am especially interested in plant hairs, seeds, and pollen.

I especially like to start with a subject, zoom in as much as I can with a camera, and then continue my exploration with the microscope. One of my frustrations is finding and interesting plant but not being able to learn its identity. While I am happy if and when a photo turns out asthetic, my main interest is taking pictures of features that are useful in identification so any input members can give me as to what to take pictures of would be appreciated.

I have been posting my cacti and succulent related posts at CactiGuide.com (under the nickname dalesmicro) and am very grateful for their helpfulness, knowledge, and assistance in those areas, but I need to identify other plants also. While Toluca is in the tropics, with an elevation of over 8500 feet where I live, the climate is anything but tropical. I hope my posts won't be out of place but please let me know if they are.

I look forward to being a member of this forum and will hopefully be able to share some photos of micro-worlds. I tried to post some pictures of a Scarlet Pimpernel flower, stamens seed pod, and seeds but wasn't sucsessful. Thanks, Dale

Re:Introduction - 2009/10/04 00:48 As you can see I am still having trouble uploading pictures, please bear with me. Is there any way to upload more than one picture at a time? Thanks, Dale

Thank you so much for sharing your photos, Dale,
it's amazing how beautiful even the tiniest parts of nature are ... and we so rarely get to see them.
