Re:I mean THIS plant - 2008/06/24 08:45
You are quite welcome A, Yes these are photos of my own plant. I live in USDA zone 8, so it is too cold here for my plant to stay outdoors in the winter months, it is actually a fairly small potted specimen in a hanging basket.
These are pretty rapid growers, but since my space is limited, I keep cutting mine back, and about every 3-5 years, I get rid of the old one, and keep a new one started from the cuttings.
My plant is the descendent of a cutting I took many years ago from a plant at my aunt's home in south Florida - hers was planted outside, and it was massive! She used to give parties on nights when it was blooming heavily - I remember seeing it covered with 100 or more flowers, the scent was just incredible!
Aww! Sunnid, I'm so sorry that your kitty traumatized your plant, they are pretty tough, I'll bet it will recover. I find that mine blooms better if it gets several hours of morning sun.
It is unusual that it blooms so late, isn't it zwaluw?
It is pollinated by some species of moth ( I can't recall which) so night time works best for that.
