Re:[Bali] Plant found on Bali, name unknown - 2011/04/20 21:39 Hello Micha, and welcome.
I'm sorry to say that I do not recognize this flower immediately. To me, it has the appearance of perhaps being something in the Leguminosae group - but that is a very broad guess, and probably not too helpful to you.

Can you tell me if this plant was a shrub or a vine? And was it growing as a wildflower or in a cultivated garden? Do you happen to have any photos that include more of the plant than just the flowers?

Re:[Bali] Plant found on Bali, name unknown - 2011/04/20 23:24 Dear Zuzu,

Thank you for your kind respons. We found the plant growing in a cultivated area on Bali (Nusa Dua area). Although it s a local plant, the gardeners did not know the name

Hopefully you can help me because we need the name for our labels; we make flower essences.

Thanks for your effort,

Micha

Re:[Bali] Plant found on Bali, name unknown - 2011/04/21 00:41 Thank you for posting the additional pics, this is really a lovely flower and your essences sound wonderful.

I will keep trying to see if I can turn anything up, but in the meantime, I thought you might be interested in this.
I have located a site online for the Bali Botanic Garden - and within the site there is a "contact us" page HERE which would allow you to email them with your question. That might be the surest way to get an accurate identification since I am sure you want your product to be correctly labeled.

If the email form won't allow you to add your photos, perhaps you could provide a link to your post here for the botanist to see.

I will let you know if I can find this ID, and I'd love to know what you learn, as well.
