If this is the flower that you are asking about, then the botanic name of the plant is Spathiphyllum (commonly called a "Peace Lily").
They are often presented at funerals and they make very long-lived houseplants.
They are easy maintenace and can become a good remembrance of the loved one who passed on.
I personally have several Spath plants from just such occasions, the oldest one is over 17 years old, and I think of my mom every time I look at it.
