Could you identify this? - 2009/06/08 20:29 My husband says it is a hibiscus, but I am wondering if it is something else.

Well, your hubby is at least part way right,
it is definitely a member of the Hibiscus (Malvaceae) family.

But, after that, it starts to get pretty tough,
because there are quite a few members of that family which produce flowers that closely resemble the one in your pic,
including good old Okra (Abelmoschus esculentus),
and Sunset Hibiscus (Abelmoschus manihot), Pineland Mallow (Hibiscus aculeatus) ... and so on,
the list is fairly long.
