Re:Flower Identification - 2009/04/03 22:35
Hi, nice to meet you. Your photos are very attractive, but for identity purposes, it's always nice if there is some foliage detail visible, or even the over-all form of the plant. Some species are extremely similar - differentiated only by smallest details.
So, with that said, I'll give you my best guesses: 1. appears to be Callistemon viminalis ("Weeping Bottlebrush") 2. Nymphea ("Water Lily") - perhaps it is a species plant or it could be one of the many hybrids 3. I would say is Pontederia cordata ("Pickerel Rush") 4. it rather looks like a Zinnia to me - but the only thing I can tell you with total certainty is that this flower is in the Asteraceae family ( asters/daisies), which is a HUGE family of plants, - Asteraceae are not really within my scope of interest, so I'm afraid I'm not much help on this one. I hope someone else will recognize it.
**Edit** Here is a link to a photo of small Zinnias which resemble your final pic: http://www.flickr.com/photos/25048733@N03/2705038305/
