Re:what flower is this? please - 2009/01/20 08:34 Hi pedrina, welcome.

From this photo, I can't really see the tree or it's foliage well enough to be sure,
but the flowers certainly resemble the "Mimosa" or "Silk Tree" (Albizia julibrissin).

Take a look at this to see if it compares to what you saw:

Looking at this photo, I do agree that it also bears a strong likeness to Calliandra surinamensis ("Pink Powderpuff"),
which is another member of the Mimosoideae group.
The flowers are (as you said), exactly the same ...
at least to my eye.
And the flowers are all that I can see clearly,
I can't see the foliage at all.

Re:what flower is this? please - 2009/02/26 04:02 Gosh pedrina, this is really a tough one to feel very certain about,
they are both so very similar in appearance.
One moment I feel almost sure ...
... but the next moment I feel sure that I am wrong.

My best suggestion is for you to have a good search of both of these species to see which one matches up most closely with what you have seen.

I wish I could give you a more conclusive answer.
